Tai chi – an art embracing the mind, body and spirit

Dr Paul Lam has combined his medical and tai chi expertise to create programs to improve health and aid recovery from ill health; conditions including stroke, heart disease, injury, surgical procedures or tiredness and stress.

Tai chi is one of the most effective exercises for the health of mind and body. An art requiring both depths of knowledge and great skill, it can be easy to learn and soon delivers its health benefits. For many, it continues as a lifetime journey.

Many studies have shown that tai chi improves muscular strength, flexibility, fitness, improved immunity, relieves pain and improves quality of life.

Muscle strength is important for supporting and protecting joints and is essential for normal physical function.

Flexibility exercises enable people to move more easily, reducing injury and helping to improve circulation of body fluid and blood, which enhances healing.

Fitness is important for the overall functioning of the heart, lungs, and muscles.

Improve balance and prevent falls with slow movements emphasizing weight transference.
